KACST is a large research center, funded by the Saudi state and aimed at promoting scientific research in the country. The campus, located in Riyadh, covers about 625 ha, where buildings dedicated to various scientific areas are located: nanotechnology, material testing, petrochemistry, aerospace, radiation, nuclear, satellites, etc. GM was assigned the task of designing the district cooling system that will serve a total of 21 large buildings (between 18000 and 35000m² each), for 5 of which we were also the authors of the HVAC systems design. Total area served by district cooling system: 500000m². Total conditioned area for the 5 buildings designed by GM: 105000m². GM also designed the campus's “district heating and cooling” plant, with a rated cooling capacity of 50000kW.
