This neoclassical building, rebuilt at the beginning of the 20th century after a fire that consumed the original building, is a cultural symbol of Porto. The renovation modernized the stage, dressing rooms, and public spaces, preserving original decorative details, such as frescoes and sculptures. Technically, several changes were introduced aimed at significantly reducing energy consumption and costs, with the replacement of end-of-life air treatment units with others incorporating energy recovery as well as the replacement of electric heating systems with heat pump systems.
